The Great Tomato Tasting @ Clifford E. & Melda C. Snyder Research & Extension Farm

Taste over 80 varieties of the quintessential New Jersey vegetable (or is it a fruit?!) – the Jersey Tomato – at the Annual Snyder Farm Open House and Great Tomato Tasting! You’ll also have the opportunity to sample apples and peaches from the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station Tree Fruit Breeding Program, along with varieties of Jersey Fresh basil and honey. Stroll the demonstration gardens to view deer tolerant ornamentals, examples of proper tomato plant culture, a wall of fruit highlighting apple trees for the home landscape, and blueberries, hollies, and hazelnuts from the Rutgers breeding programs. Visitors will have the chance to take a wagon tour of the farm’s research plots. The Great Tomato Tasting will also feature chef demonstrations, educational displays, and Rutgers Master Gardener volunteers as well as Rutgers NJAES faculty and staff will be on hand to answer gardening questions. Registration is requested for planning purposes.
