There are many amazing NJ fall festivals being planned, with something for everyone. Whether you’re interested in foodie events, fabulous kids’ activities, great music, fun on the farm, or celebrations of art, history, or film, there’s something for everyone in our guide to fall festivals in New Jersey!

The Red Bank Guinness Oyster Festival is a huge food and music festival which showcases Red Bank’s excellent restaurants as well as entertains thousands of people with continuous live music on two stages! Come on out to the Updike Farmstead in Princeton for HistoryFest 2018 where this year’s theme is “Edible History”! Enjoy music, lawn games, hands-on cooking activities for families, a “revolutionary” tea, learn about classic Princeton restaurants and food culture, and more!

Oct. 5-8: LBI FLY International Kite Festival

The LBI FLY International Kite Festival features kites in many amazing and unusual shapes and designs that will amaze spectators. The festival includes sport kite flying demonstrations and competitions, an indoor kite festival (featuring celebrity kite fliers who can fly kites in zero wind) and the Sunday night kite fly at Barnegat Light that is choreographed to music. There will also be kids’ kite making activities, a craft show, live  music, and great food from local vendors.

Oct. 6: Collingswood Book Festival

The award-winning Collingswood Book Festival is the longest-running, largest literary event in the Delaware Valley! More than six blocks of Haddon Avenue will be filled with authors/speakers for adults and children, as well as booksellers, storytellers, poetry readings, workshops, exhibitors, kid-friendly activities, and entertainment for all ages.

Named one of the Top 200 Craft Shows by Sunshine Artists, the Wheaton Arts Festival of Fine Craft features over 140 juried artists, indoor and outdoor craft demonstrations, hands-on family activities including scarecrow building, a beer and wine garden, entertainment, specialty foods, and the crowd favorite “Glass Pumpkin Patch”!

Oct. 6 & 7: Bordentown Cranberry Festival

The Bordentown Cranberry Festival is one of the largest juried craft shows in New Jersey and features over 150 crafters, artists and vendors offering handmade, vintage and upcycled items for the heart and home! Oct. 7: Saddle Brook Street Fair

Oct. 7: DogFest New Jersey

Grab your leashes and head to the 5th annual DogFest New Jersey in Edison! The 54th Annual Bergen County Art in the Park Show and Concert takes place at Van Saun Park in Paramus and features over 100 Bergen County resident visual artists and live music by Lloyd United.

Oct. 13 & 14: Weekend Journey Through the Past

Somerset County’s Weekend Journey Through the Past offers participants the opportunity to explore 30 historic locations in Somerset County NJ free of charge. There will be children’s activities at every site. The weekend’s activities include interpretive tours and reenactments, appearances by famous historical figures, special exhibitions, military encampments, demonstrations of traditional trades and crafts, live period music and theatrical performances, antiques sales, and more.

Oct. 20: Jersey Shore Makerfest 2018

Jersey Shore Makerfest 2018 is a fun experimental, experiential, educational, and FREE annual community event, a celebration of creativity and imagination that’s part MythBusters, part science lab, part county fair, and part art studio! It consists of 70-100 maker booths, a drone/RC field, LearningSpaces for workshops, an EdTalk stage, a Roborena, the Jersey Shore Hackathon, and the Toms River United Sustainability Team (TRUST) Green Fair.

Oct. 20: Hoboken Harvest Festival

Enjoy an afternoon of family friendly fun for all ages at the Hoboken Harvest Festival. Oct. 20 & 21: Trails4Tails Fest

Trails4Tails Fest is all about running and dogs! This fun festival takes place at Washington Crossing State Park and includes a one-mile fun run, a 5K run, a 5K run with dogs and a 50K ultra marathon. In addition to the trail runs, the festival features a beer and wine garden, vendors, yoga, lawn games, a dog agility course, camping, and more! Proceeds from the event benefit It’s A Ruff Life Dog Rescue.

Oct. 20 & 21: Chatsworth Cranberry Festival

The Chatsworth Cranberry Festival celebrates New Jersey’s cranberry harvest and is a tribute to the local arts and culture of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. This event is the second largest cranberry festival in the country and features many local artists and craftsmen, some of whom will be demonstrating their crafts as well as offering their items for sale. Other festival highlights include breakfast each morning, live southern/classic rock, a classic car show, antique dealers, cranberry bog tours, and – of course – lots of cranberries and cranberry products for purchase.

The North American Sea Glass Festival showcases the very best in sea glass artisans, who will display their work and collections. The event features a Shard of the Year contest, presentations from experts, and talks on sea glass sourcing and beachcombing in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. Oct. 29: New Providence Street Fair

The New Providence Street Fair offers attractions for everyone, young and old. As in previous years, the family-friendly event provides entertainment for the kids, such as kiddie rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, balloons and a clown performer. Oct. 29: Diwali Fest NJ

Diwali Fest NJ showcases the talent of local South Asian American dancers, musicians, chefs, writers, and artists. This family friendly festival offers attendees the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops such as cooking, creating Indian folk art, and Bollywood dancing while sampling a variety of regional cuisines from local South Asian restaurants. Diwali Fest NJ also features an eclectic mix of jewelry, clothing, and handicraft vendors. The festivities conclude with the traditional lighting of lamps.
