North Jersey Scarecrow Contests & Festivals
Cranford Scarecrow Competition

Be a part of the fun and enter the Cranford Scarecrow Competition! Scarecrows will be displayed throughout downtown Cranford as part of the Scarecrow Stroll between October 16th through the 31st. Registration required.

New Providence Scarecrow Contest

New Providence Business is hosting the 3rd Annual Scarecrow Contest, bringing a festive feel to Downtown New Providence!   The contest encourages New Providence residents, businesses, civic organizations, school groups, sports teams, and families to build the wildest, cleverest, funniest scarecrows they can imagine. The entry deadline is October 6th.  Scarecrows will be placed along Springfield Avenue and South Street beginning October 13th and voting will take place between October 13 through November 2nd.

Union Township Scarecrow Contest

The Union Township Recreation Department hosts an annual Spooktacular Scarecrow Contest for kids in grades 5-8. Registration is required.

Central Jersey Scarecrow Contests & Festivals
Ewing Green Team’s 5th Annual Scarecrow Contest

The Ewing Green Team’s 5th Annual Scarecrow Contest is open to all Ewing individuals, school groups, families, youth groups, service clubs, and business groups. All scarecrows must be constructed of at least 80% recycled, reclaimed, and/or reused materials. Winners will be judged on originality, artistry and the creative use of recycled materials. Judging of the scarecrows will take place during the Ewing Recreation Department’s Annual Trunk or Treat on October 27th at the Ewing Senior and Community Center. Pre-registration is required.

Scarecrow Contest at Thompson Park Day

Gather your family together and enjoy some family time building a scarecrow at Thompson Park Day (10/14) in Lincroft NJ. Scarecrow framework and stuffing will be provided; you supply the face, outer covering (clothes, etc.) and imagination! Prizes will be awarded and the scarecrow is yours to take home. The pre-registration fee is $10.00 and same-day registration is $12.00. (Pre-registration guarantees a frame; day-of-registration frames are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first–served basis).

Freehold Halloween Spooktacular Scarecrow Contest

Join in the fun of the Freehold Halloween Spooktacular and help line the streets of Freehold with creative and amazing scarecrows. Create a one of a kind scarecrow with your family to display in front of your house!

Keyport’s 4th Annual Scarecrow Contest

The Annual Keyport Scarecrow Contest is a fun tradition that brings out the creativity in the entire Keyport community to see who can decorate the winning scarecrow in a number of categories. In person registration and materials pickup takes place at the library on 9/22 & 9/29. Judging will take place on October 13th.



South Jersey Scarecrow Contests & Festivals
Burlington County Scarecrows on Parade

Burlington County residents, civic groups, organizations, and businesses are invited to participate in the Burlington County Scarecrows on Parade Contest. Registration is required. Voting begins October 1st and ends on October 14th. Scarecrows will be displayed at Smithville Park in Eastampton from October 1st to October 31st.

Main Street Medford Scarecrow Contest

Businesses, groups, families, and individuals are invited to participate in the 2018 Main Street Medford Scarecrow Contest sponsored by the Medford Women’s Club. Registration and scarecrow building will take place on October 6th and winners will be announced at noon that day. Scarecrows will be displayed along Main Street in Medford NJ until October 21st.

Paws Discovery Farm Scarecrow Contest

Paws Discovery Farm welcomes families of all ages to come and decorate the Farm! A scarecrow contest will be held on September 29th & 30th. Bring your own scarecrow dress up clothes. Winners will be announced at Pumpkin Pawslooza  (10/ 26/18). The Grand Prize winner will receive a free Paws Discovery Farm birthday party and all scarecrow contest participants will receive free admission to Pumpkin Pawlooza.

Woodstown Fall Festival Scarecrow Competition

Participate in a great Woodstown tradition and show your community spirit by entering the Woodstown Fall Festival Scarecrow competition. Businesses, groups, and individuals are encouraged to decorate a scarecrow that will be displayed throughout Woodstown NJ during the fall season. Scarecrows should be placed by September 28th and winners will be announced at the Woodstown Fall Festival on September 29th. Winning scarecrows will be selected in the following categories: Best of Show, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, Most Original Scarecrow, Harvest Scarecrow, Mayor’s Choice Scarecrow.

Scarecrow Building at WheatonArts Festival of Fine Craft

Build a scarecrow at the annual Festival of Fine Craft at WheatonArts in Millville NJ. This annual fall festival will also feature more than 130 juried artists, artist demonstrations, family craft activities, musical entertainment, specialty foods, a glass pumpkin patch, a beer and wine garden, and more! The Festival of Fine Craft takes place on October 6th and 7th. Save 50% on admission to the Festival of Fine Craft here! 

Scarecrow Building at the Blackwood Pumpkin Festival

Make your own scarecrow at the 2018 Blackwood Pumpkin Festival! This South Jersey fall festival draws 10,000 people each year and also features pumpkin painting, hayrides, amusement rides, bounce houses, a pumpkin carving contest, face painting, a costume contest, a talent contest, great food, games, live music, shopping among 200 vendors, and four stages of entertainment. This year’s Pumpkin Festival takes place on October 7th.

Cape May MAC Scarecrow Contest

Individuals, families, community groups, businesses, and school classrooms are invited to build a scarecrow to be displayed on Scarecrow Alley at the Emlen Physick Estate in historic Cape May NJ.  Scarecrows can range from the ghoulishly gruesome to the foolishly funny and will be judged in several categories. Register and place your scarecrow by October 11th. Scarecrows will be displayed from October 12th to October 31st. Winning scarecrows will be announced on November 2nd.

Downtown Toms River Scarecrow Walk Contest

Have fun showing off your creativity and personality by creating a scarecrow to display at the 2018 Downtown Toms River Scarecrow Walk! Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in several categories. Registration is required by October 8th. Scarecrows will be displayed in downtown Toms River NJ along Washington and Main Streets between October 15th and November 2nd. Winning scarecrows will be announced on November 2nd.

Vineland Scarecrow Competition

Vineland schools, clubs, and organizations are invited to participate in the Vineland Downtown Improvement District’s Scarecrow Competition. Pre-registration is required and scarecrows must be delivered to VDID Office by October 22nd. The public will vote for the best scarecrow and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. Winners will be announced at the Annual Pumpkin Patch Party on October 27th.

Haddonfield Fall Festival Scarecrow Building

Come celebrate the fall season and make your own scarecrow at the annual Haddonfield Fall Festival and Craft Show! All scarecrow building materials will be provided.
