Well, the kids are all back to school and it may be the unofficial end of summer in New Jersey, but the fun doesn’t stop here!!! There are tons of great things to do in New Jersey in September, starting with some fantastic events happening this week! From a fantastic outdoor expo, to awesome food and cultural festivals, to a family-friendly day of everything pirates at the Jersey shore, there’s something for everyone in New Jersey this week! 1. 2015 NJ WILD Outdoor Expo

September 12th & 13th, 2015

This free family-friendly event celebrates all the fun outdoor things to do in New Jersey. This is a fantastic opportunity for visitors of all ages to learn about and try out all sorts of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed in New Jersey’s natural world including fishing, shooting sports, kayaking, rock climbing, geocaching, camping, hiking, wildlife watching and more. Demonstrations and talks will take place on a variety of topics including scuba diving, snakes of New Jersey, hunting dog / water retriever demonstrations, and birds of prey flight demonstrations. The Expo also features an outdoor supply flea market. Food vendors will also be on hand.

2. Atlantic City Seafood Festival

September 12th, 2015 – 11:00am – 7:00pm
September 13th, 2015 – 11:00am – 6:00pm
Free admission / $10 onsite parking
Beer tasting: $10 (10 2-oz tastings)

The Atlantic City Seafood Festival is a two-day extravaganza of food, fun, and entertainment that celebrates the delicious treasures of the Atlantic Ocean while highlighting the East Coast’s favorite city by the sea. The festival will feature more than 50 restaurants and culinary personalities and is an awesome opportunity for foodies and food seekers to meet some of Atlantic City’s most unique chefs and restaurateurs while savoring their delectable creations. Highlights of the Atlantic City Seafood Festival will be children’s activities, cooking demonstrations, live music, local art and artists, wine seminars and tastings with wine personality Michael Green, the Great Brews of NJ tasting tent (ages 21+), the Phillips Seafood Crab Eating Competition, a chowder cook-off benefiting the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, and the SUP AC Paddle Board Race.

3. 25th Annual Barnegat Pirates Day

September 12th, 2015
9:00am – 4:00pm

Route 9 & West Bay Avenue
Barnegat, New Jersey

Pirates Day is a free, family-friendly swashbucklin’ good time filled with pirate-themed activities led by professional re-enactor troupes, live music, an enormous vendor and craft fair, pet adoptions, an exciting display of new cars and trucks, delicious festival food, a Kids’ Zone filled with fun things to do for kids including a trackless train rides, inflatable bouncy houses, an obstacle course, gaming trailers, and more. Pirates Day attendees are encouraged to wear pirate costumes; prizes will be awarded in several age categories! The day concludes with a free concert at 7pm, when Tommy Edwards as “Sir Rod” will rock the public dock on East Bay Avenue. Free shuttle buses will run all day from remote lots at the Barnegat Municipal Complex and adjacent shopping plaza, as well as from the rear of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church (all on W. Bay Ave.).

4. Hoboken Italian Festival

September 10th – 13th, 2015

The Hoboken Italian Festival is one of the largest Italian Festivals in New Jersey. Highlights of this celebratory Italian feast includes a parade, rides, entertainment, the delicious food that made Hoboken famous, and a spectacular fireworks display over the Hudson River!!!

5. Asbury Park Oysterfest

September 11th, 2015 – 5:00pm – 10:00pm
September 12th, 2015 – 12pm – 10:00pm
September 13th, 2015 – 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Free admission on Friday / $3 for weekend pass

Oysterfest is Asbury Park’s largest festival of the year! Come enjoy delicious oyster specials prepared by Jersey shore area eateries, festival foods, craft beers, wine and signature sodas, vendors, live music, the NJ Hall of Fame mobile museum, and things to do for the children including inflatables, amusement rides, face painting, sand art and more. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of weekend passes benefit the Asbury Park Toy Drive.
