1. Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair

The 2015 Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair begins on August 19th and runs through August 23rd. This Central New Jersey fair features tons of fun things to do and see including livestock and pet exhibits and shows, antique tractor exhibits, live music and other live entertainment, amusement rides, tractor pulls, free ice cream sundaes on Friday afternoon, 4-H exhibits, fireworks, and lots more!

2. Heritage Day at the Bayshore Center at Bivalve

Every Saturday through the summer, the Bayshore Center at Bivalve offers the Summer Saturdays By The Bay program featuring free, family-friendly programming including hands-on children’s activities, educational programs, and entertainment. This Summer Saturday By The Bay is Heritage Day – a special recognition of the one Revolutionary War battle that took place in Cumberland County. The day will feature living history demonstrations and Revolutionary War re-enactors, history exhibits, Revolutionary War-era music, and exhibits in the Delaware Bay Museum. Don’t miss this exciting event on the shores of New Jersey’s Wild and Scenic Maurice River!

3. Canal Day Music & Craft Festival

Learn about New Jersey history at this old time country fair that celebrates the heritage of the Morris Canal. Canal Day features more than 100 unique craft vendors, delicious food, and fun educational events. Take a guided walking tour of the Morris Canal and visit the newly restored Lock 2 East. Travel down the waterway on a free boat ride. Feeling more adventurous? You can also paddle a kayak down the canal! Learn about local wildlife. Other fun things to do and see at canal day include blacksmithing demonstrations, pony and hay rides, a civil war encampment, musical entertainment throughout the day on two stages, and a spectacular fireworks display.

4. Seafarers’ Weekend – Historic Cold Spring Village

August 22 -23, 2015
Admission: $12 –Adults / $10 – Children 3-12: $10 / Free Admission for Members and Children under 3

Pirates invade Historic Cold Spring Village this weekend! Catch pirate fight shows featuring Valhalla’s Pirates and enjoy special exhibits and demonstrations, such as decoy carving, blacksmithing, and antique boats. Celebrate the music of the sea with rollicking sea chanties and sing-alongs. Captain Black and his crew will tell tales of the sea and be available for photographs throughout the day. All of the village buildings will be open, featuring historic interpreters who will demonstrate the crafts, trades, and lifestyles of early Americans. Be on the lookout for hidden gold coins throughout the Village that can be redeemed for prizes!

5. 2015 Colts Neck Country Fair

August 20-23, 2015

The 2015 Colts Neck Country Fair features fun things to do and see for everyone including a fireworks display, the New Jersey Hall of Fame Mobile Museum, a hole in one tournament, the “Great American Apple Pie Baking Contest”, games of chance, craft vendors, delicious food from local vendors, dance performances, magic shows, local bands and student musicians, a bicycle stunt show, dog agility demonstrations, inflatables, amusement rides, and more. Entertainment headliners include the Matt O’Ree Band (8/20), the Moroccan Sheepherders (8/21), the Rock of Ages Band and Constantine Maroulis (8/22), and Slim Chance and The Gamblers (8/23).
