Wow! The summer sure is flying by! I hope you’re enjoying it. My family and I have been busy exploring the state and we’re hoping to visit many more of New Jersey’s gems before the kids have to head back to school. This week, there are some awesome events happening in New Jersey. From concerts, to an air show, to fairs and festivals… there’s something for everyone in New Jersey this week. Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival Tour and Jason Aldean’s The Burn It Down Tour will collide in one spectacular show at MetLife Stadium this Saturday in what is sure to be one of the New Jersey’s hottest summer shows. Special guests Brantley Gilbert, Cole Swindell and Old Dominion will also be performing at this big event. The Aldean Army and Chesney’s No Shoes Nation are both known for their ability to work hard and play harder. With a strong commitment to living in the moment, these shows are destined to be a once-in-lifetime pairing – and everything summer, friends and music are meant to embrace. This weekend Tuckerton becomes “Truck”erton as 20 food trucks roll in to serve up food and fun. Food offerings will include grilled alligator legs, Belgian waffles, Spudwiches (sandwiches made with potato skins), BBQ, pierogi, crepes, crab cakes, specialty hot dogs, and lots more!!! New Jersey’s favorite craft brews will be on tap and Valenzano Winery will be selling New Jersey wines by the bottle. Other fun things to do at the “Truck”erton Food Truck & Brew Festival will include enjoying live music throughout the day, shopping with local vendors, fun family activities, decoy carving and boat building demonstrations, and boat rides (additional fee applies).Admission to the “Truck”erton Food Truck & Brew Festival is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for children, and free for Seaport Members and children under 5. Save $1 on admission by bringing an item to donate to the Tuckerton Food Pantry. Two-day passes are available for $20 and include a mug and your first beer on the house. Food prices are set by individual food truck vendors.

The Trenton African American Cultural Festival is an annual celebration of the heritage, history, culture, and arts that represent African contributions to American life. The day will feature musical and dance performances on two stages, a healthy living, pavilion, a Kid’s Village filled with family-friendly activities, many vendors, and lots more! Free admission.

The Greenwood Lake Air Show is back for its 7th year! This huge New Jersey event features aviation and jet-car performances by some of the best performers on the air show circuit, a car show, a Kids Fun Zone, displays by all branches of the armed forces, aircraft exhibits, a display by the Aviation Hall of Fame in Greenwood Lake Airport’s “Constellation”, and living history displays by the Tuskegee Airmen, the “Top Secret” crew of the 509th Composite Group, and the Army Air Forces Historical Association. New for 2015 is Megasaurus, with a taste for destruction, he rips and tears cars to shreds to the enjoyment of the crowd. The Air Show will also feature musical performances by The Farmer Phil Band and Rob Trout and the Flounders. Food will be available from local vendors. Discounted admission is available on Friday. The Somerset County 4-H Fair is deeply rooted in the agricultural heritage of this Central New Jersey community. There are no carnival rides at this fair and no selling in exhibitors’ tents. Instead, this county fair provides the community with free family-friendly fun and spotlights the accomplishments of 1,000+ Somerset County 4-H members. Highlights of the Somerset County 4-H Fair include live entertainment all day; hands-on kids’ activities; horse, dog, beef, dairy, sheep, goat and alpaca shows; poultry, rabbits, and herpetology tents; go-karts, model trains, model planes, radio-controlled cars, and rocket launches; and arts and science tents. Food will be available for purchase and will be supplied by various community organizations. Free shuttle bus transportation is available from Raritan Valley Community College (Route 28 in North Branch).
