Celebrate Dad’s day with some hands-on fishing fun at the Monmouth County Parks third annual fishing derby at Turkey Swamp Park or the Manasquan Reservoir. The fishing derby is a great Father’s Day activity for beginners as well as experienced anglers. No clue how to fish? No problem! Prior to the derby, the park staff will provide free hands-on clinics that will show you how to cast, how to rig, and answer any questions you may have (clinics held from 12:30-1:30pm). Prizes will be awarded for the longest fish in three different categories. Pre-registration is suggested; walk-ins are welcomed. Cash and checks only on site. A container of worms is included with each registration. Fishing rods are available for rent ($5 per rod).

The 21st Annual Father’s Day Cruise to the Jersey Shore Car Show on the Oceanfront will feature hot rods, classic cars, custom cars, and race cars. Special guests will be on hand including Ronald McDonald and Butch Patrick (aka Eddie Munster) along with the Munster Koach. There will also be several movie and TV cars on display, including the Batmobile! Entertainment will be provided by Kruzin DJs Lee Greenwood and Jay Newcomb. There will also be a live concert by The Cameos at 1pm. Other fun things to do at the Annual Father’s Day Cruise will include a fan belt toss and a spark plug changing contest! The 21st Annual Father’s Day Cruise to the Jersey Shore Car Show is free to spectators; auto entry is $10. Proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Long Branch.
