Where to Try Curling In New Jersey

With the 2018 Winter Olympics fast approaching, we’ll soon be cheering on top athletes in our favorite winter sporting events like figure skating, hockey, and downhill skiing, as well as discovering some new sports like curling. Have you ever thought of giving curling a try? While it may seem like a sport that’s more commonly played in northern regions like upstate NY, Minnesota, or Canada, there are several places to try curling in New Jersey and the nearby area. If you enjoy it, you can even join a NJ curling club and play on a regular basis!

Places to Try Curling in NJ

Jersey Pinelands Curling Club
The Igloo
033 Fostertown Road
Mt Laurel NJ

The Igloo is home to the Jersey Pinelands Curling Club, which offers Intro to Curling sessions throughout the year, as well as runs curling leagues for those interested in playing the sport on a more regular basis. Equipment for new players is supplied. The facility is very easily accessible from Interstate 295, making it convenient to get to from locations in Mercer, Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester Counties.

Plainfield Curling Club
133 McKinley Street
South Plainfield NJ

The Plainfield Curling Club is New Jersey’s original curling club and the only dedicated facility for curling in NJ. The club offers Try Curling experiences (unfortunately all upcoming experiences are sold out) as well as Curling Open Houses where you can sign up for a 30-minute session and get an overview of curling, learn how to throw a stone and sweep, and then play a short game. The next Curling Open Houses take place on February 17th and 18th. If you find that curling is for you and you’d like to play regularly, the club runs youth and adult curling leagues and hosts bonspiels (curling tournaments) on a regular basis.



Places to Try Curling Near NJ

If you don’t live near a New Jersey curling club, there are several curling clubs near New Jersey where you can give curling a try.


Diamond State Curling
The Pond Ice Arena

If you are located in South Jersey (particularly Salem, Gloucester and Cumberland Counties), Diamond State Curling Club is just a short car ride away and is a convenient place to give curling a try. The club meets at The Pond Ice Arena in Newark DE and hosts Into-To-Curling events,  youth curling programs, and instructional leagues for kids and adults.

Bucks County Curling Club
Bucks County Ice Sports Center

Warminster PA

Bucks County Curling Club is based at the Bucks County Ice Sports Center in Warminster PA and hosts Curling Experience sessions for those just discovering the sport of curling, as well as instructional leagues and bonspiels for all ages.
