South Jersey Planetarium Offers Visitors
Out Of This World Experience

Looking for something fun to do on a cold or rainy day? The Edelman Planetarium is a great place to visit when the weather outside isn’t the greatest (although honestly it’s awesome any time).

Located on the campus of Rowan University, the Edelman Planetarium offers visitors the opportunity to explore space through its 360 video planetarium shows on its digital sky. Planetarium shows include astronomy shows like “To Space and Back”, which takes guests on an amazing journey to the outer reaches of the universe (and back), laser shows such as “Laser Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon” and “Laser Beatles”, and family shows that are perfect for younger children (ages 5-10) such as “Legends of the Night Sky” and “Perfect Little Planet”.

The planetarium also offers free monthly Observatory Open Houses during each Rowan semester. Open Houses begin with a virtual preview of the night sky in the planetarium, then visitors are escorted to the 4th floor observatory where they are able to observe the night sky through a 16-inch research telescope and through smaller telescopes on the observing deck (dress for the weather – observing deck is outdoors). Rowan Astronomy faculty and club members are available to operate the telescopes and answer questions or point out interesting facts.

The Edelman Planetarium occasionally hosts other special events. Past events have included events like a viewing party for the recent solar eclipse, Darwin Day (a celebration of Charles Darwin’s birthday), and a screening of An Inconvenient Sequel.

The Edelman Planetarium is located on the campus of Rowan University at 201 Mullica Hill Road in Glassboro NJ. Parking is in Lots A-1, O and H for weekend shows, and in Lot C on weekdays. Parking lots are a 5-10 minute walk from the planetarium. Admission to Edelman Planetarium shows is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors (60+), children (16 & under), and Rowan students (with ID). Visit the Edelman Planetarium online for more information.
