Following the tree lighting, refreshments will be served and there will be a holiday sing along in the courtroom. There will be live music on the stage next to the tree and 101.1 More FM will also be onsite playing holiday music. The celebration will also include fireworks!

Medford’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting will take place as part of the community’s popular holiday celebration, the Dickens Festival. Things get underway around 5:45pm, when a parade heralded by the town crier transports Santa, Mrs. Claus, and an elf or two to the gazebo in the center of the downtown Village. The annual tree-lighting ceremony happens next. Santa and Mrs. Claus will stay at the gazebo all evening long to greet children of all ages. Visitors are invited to stroll along Main Street in Medford’s historic district, past dimly lit lampposts and shops adorned with holiday decorations and twinkling lights. Carolers dressed in Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” garb will make their way up and down the street, entertaining the masses. Musicians will perform favorite holiday tunes from porches along the way. Festivities and activities will also include pony rides, an ice carving exhibit, a moon bounce, the Give ‘n Take jugglers, Stockton-Brown stilt-walkers, a face painter, a town crier (on a penny farthing bicycle), the always popular living nativity at Tomlinson Park in front of the library, and outdoor movies (at Union and Main streets).

The Burlington City Holiday Parade features almost 60 minutes of decorated floats, musical groups, and other colorful marchers. The parade begins at sundown at High and Federal Streets and travels through Burlington’s historical downtown to High and Pearl Streets on the Riverfront Promenade, where the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony takes place, followed by cookies and hot chocolate with Santa at the Hope Fire House across the street. Rain/Snow Date: December 3rd.
